Christmas is near! I hope your preparations are well underway. If you still have much to do, don’t fret! Be sure to set aside a few moments to prepare the manger of your heart for the newborn King. In particular, I recommend going to confession and praying the joyful mysteries of the Rosary to get ready and focused for Christmas. Christmas, the Nativity of Our Lord, is the center of the joyful mysteries. When I mediate on the nativity I cannot help but be overcome with the joy, tenderness and love which Our Lady and Saint Joseph experienced in the manger in Bethlehem.
Saint John Paul II writes this:
To meditate upon the “joyful” mysteries is to enter into the ultimate causes and the deepest meaning of Christian joy. It is to focus on the realism of the mystery of the Incarnation and on the obscure foreshadowing of the mystery of the saving Passion. Mary leads us to discover the secret of Christian joy, reminding us that Christianity is, first and foremost, euangelion, “good news”, which has as its heart and its whole content the person of Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, the one Saviour of the world.
