The Book of Proverbs teaches us that God is stern with the arrogant, yet kind to the humble (cf. Proverbs 3:34). Think about it: the arrogant person is so full of himself that there is no room for God. On the contrary, the humble person has empty hands because he rightly sees his own poverty before divine majesty. The empty can be filled whereas the full can only be poured out. May each of us be truly humble so that we can receive God’s kindness!
