Looking up at a canopy of vibrant leaves makes me think of a gilt ceiling in a great cathedral. Ceilings of great churches have their limits, while the golden canopies of forest sanctuaries seem to stretch out endlessly. The former is man’s offering to the Creator, while the latter is the Creator’s gift to the creature. May we always look upon the beauty of God’s creation with awe and wonder. And in the beholding of creation, may we come to be beheld by the Creator.
