Invocation for the 98th International Educational Conference of the IAI in Providence

This morning I gave the invocation for the for the 98th International Educational Conference of the International Association for Identification in Providence, Rhode Island. The IAI is an organization of professionals who are engaged in the forensic sciences and various crime scene services. There were representatives from every state in the US and 27 countries in attendance. I had the pleasure of speaking with a member of the Mexican Federal Police before the opening ceremonies about the difficult problems they face.

This picture from the opening ceremony is from Providence Mayor Angel Taveras’ Twitter feed. It shows a third of the hall.

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation,

Whose goodness fills our hearts with joy.

Blessed are you who have brought us together at this 98th International Educational Conference to navigate the waves of forensics.

Strengthen us with your grace and wisdom that we may ever serve the cause of justice and truth.

Enlighten our work with your inspiration and keep us in harmony and peace.

For you are God for ever and ever.

Amen.

I adapted the invocation from several sources in the Book of Blessings.

Let us keep all military, law enforcement, first-responders, and all who service the public good in our prayers.
